It always catches me off guard when someone tells me this! I have lived in Minnesota now for almost one full year after moving from south Texas. I personally think I sound "normal" and not any different than my fellow Minnesotans...until something like tonight happens. I was at our local Casey's (gas station that sells awesome pizza) when my kids call and the following sentence came out of my mouth "since y'all didn't answer when I called I was fixin' to just not get y'all any drinks". That is a normal, everyday sentence for me but it provoked the college aged cashier that heard it to excitedly asked me where I am from and even to repeat the sentence so that he could record it on his phone.
